Detailed Requirements for Expert Witnesses
To maintain the high standards our clients expect, we have specific requirements for experts who wish to join our network. Please review these carefully before applying.
Qualifications
- Relevant university degree or equivalent qualification
- Postgraduate qualifications preferred but not essential
- Current registration with relevant professional body (where applicable)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience
- Minimum 10 years professional experience in your field
- Experience in a variety of practice settings preferred
- Prior experience providing expert evidence is advantageous but not essential
- Demonstrated expertise in your nominated specialty areas
Professional Standards
- Current professional indemnity insurance with adequate cover
- No current disciplinary findings or restrictions on practice
- Commitment to the Expert Witness Code of Conduct
- Understanding of the expert's duty to the court
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional demeanor suitable for court appearances
- Ability to remain objective and impartial
Practical Requirements
- Availability to meet reasonable deadlines
- Ability to attend court when required (with reasonable notice)
- Access to relevant professional resources and literature
- Reliable communication and responsiveness
